First of all, if you’re receiving this, a massive thank you for being a subscriber.
As you can see, I’ve done a wee bit of a redesign of the newsletter. I hope you like it. When I first created the newsletter, I didn’t think much about the branding and rushed it so I could get stuck into the writing aspect of it and because I wasn’t too sure where the newsletter was heading.
I’m a lot clearer on what it is now. It’s a discussion space, a ranting space and, most importantly, a space where I can express myself creatively.
I’ve always got my head in the clouds, so the new logo and branding is intended to reflect that whimsical, daydreaming and creative aspect of me. Plus using my favourite colour: blue!
Upcoming: Afternotes Book Club!
I’ve also really wanted to do more book reviews and have decided to have a dedicated space for this. An Afternotes Book Club newsletter is incoming! This will be a monthly publication where I will share:
Monthly wrap-ups of what I’ve read
Focused review on one book
Quotes and highlights
As well as this, the book club will have read-alongs, which will have a space for possible timelines, discussions, questions and more.
The first book will be Victor Hugo’s epic tome Les Miserables, a book I’ve started reading three times and which is going to be my first BIG BOOK of 2025.
I have a massive TBR, among which are books on Palestine, post-colonialism, radical feminism, whimsical Japanese translations, children’s fantasy, literary fiction, Islamic non-fiction, books on Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Poland, Korea, Ireland… and the list goes on. I like to read widely, so hopefully there’ll be something for everyone.
If this sounds like a bit of you, then I look forward to reading with you!
Love the logo Allahuma Baarik 🤩😍
The new logo actually looks awesome!! Very well made. Nice layering of clouds, and love the bright blue!
